What I Do Now

Before coming to CGA, I honestly did not actually know what I would be doing.  All I knew was that God wanted me here, and there was some discipleship stuff that would happen.  Now that I have been here a little bit I can share with you guys what this thing actually is, so here is what a normal day looks like.

Starting at 8:15 we go to the CGA space and do a worship thing.  This can change every day, some days we just sit in prayer, sometimes we listen to music, this is just a time to spend with God and explore different ways of doing that.  At 9 we start the Field Leadership training.  Every day someone talks about a topic, but this is not like normal school.  This is a deep time that is very intentional.  The focus of the ‘class’ is to prepare us for leading other people through servant leadership.  So far almost every class time has seen people weeping because of the walls that God is breaking down in them.  The speakers are not normal teachers either.  One day a guy came in and just started prophesying over us.  I think he had notes to speak on when he came in, but I did not see him speak on them at all, he just spoke to us with what the holy spirit was showing him at that exact moment.  These sessions have been spirit led and incredibly powerful so far, and it is just getting started.  Some days we also do what they call ‘activations’, these are just times where we go out and put into practice something we have talked about.  One day we had someone come in and tell us about evangelism, she was very passionate about evangelizing and spoke to us about boldness why we evangelize.  Then next day we went to downtown Gainesville and we told to simply to listen to the Holy Spirit and evangelize for a few hours.

On Fridays we have ‘breakout sessions’, these days I do a worship track instead of leadership track.  I do not know much about how this will look yet because it just started.  What I have been told is that this time will be a time of worshipping God and exploring and growing in different forms of that.

Then in the afternoons we are free, however we are expected to hold a part time job and memorize scripture and read several books so the afternoons are not really empty.  I have found a job as a pianist at a local church, playing every Sunday and Wednesday night.  I might also become a piano teacher or guitar teacher as well.

I live in a house with 7 other guys, right next to AiM.  These guys are incredible!  It is amazing to live in a house with people who are also on fire for the Lord and actively pursuing a life of missions.  There are 3 other houses where the girls live, in total there are 30 of us in CGA.  Something I missed enormously coming off the race was the community I had with my squad.  We became family, and then all the sudden we were all separated, and I was working full time.  It is so good  to live in close, intentional community again.

CGA is going to be very difficult, but I truly believe it will equip me to squad lead and further The Kingdom in the future.  This is where God wants me.  This might be a more transforming time for me than the race was.

At the end of the race there will (Lord willing) be a short term trip for all of us to put into practice all of the things we have been growing in during our time here.  They are calling it a Capstone trip, but it can only happen if we are all funded by December 1st.  I am so far at $2,470 out of $5,950.  If you feel compelled to become a financial partner I would appreciate it SO much! If not than please pray, this is going to be a very difficult couple of months with lots of growth and hardship.  If you have anything you want to ask me or talk about please feel free to call or FB message me anytime!  Thank you for your support!
